Born in Jamaica, Cornell discovered the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and fell for the written word. By high school he was writing scripts for plays and taking on leadership roles.
As CEO of a security firm, Cornell was charged with 16 counts he had nothing to do with and faced 32 years to life. He spent ten months in a maximum security jail and two more years fighting the charges. Behind bars, he wrote four books.
On the third day of his trial, the key witness admitted to helping fabricate the story. Cornell walked free, and his record was expunged the following year.
At Next Level Church, in front of more than 5,000 people, Cornell went into cardiac arrest. Medical experts on the scene said he was dead for 16 minutes. Then he came back, and a new journey began.
